IBIA Highlights 'Leading Voice' in Best Rates Market Research

International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has published a study on the optimal betting market, which examines the fairness of sports betting across different markets.

In an update on the group's Linkedin page, IBIA discussed the Optimum survey produced in collaboration with H2 Gambling Capital , in order to study a number of different regulatory models for the international betting industry and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the markets studied.

The group selected 20 jurisdictions to study, spanning six continents and covering various licensing models, considering the need and effectiveness of betting product restrictions, as well as the cost of match-fixing for the regulated betting sector worldwide.

The project was supported by some of the main partner associations of IBIA, including the Betting and Gambling Council (BGC), the Netherlands Online Gambling Association (NOGA), the Swedish Online Gambling Trade Association (BOS), the Spanish Online Gambling Association. Trade Association (Jdigital) and European Gambling and Betting Association (EGBA).

“The study and its content can rightfully be called unprecedented,” said Khalid Ali , CEO of IBIA. “H2 Gambling Capital has conducted a detailed study of product data covering $ 137 billion turnover, along with its own market data.

“The result is a report that provides never-before-seen insight into global consumer demand, integrity risks and regulatory practices. In doing so, it reveals the main aspects of a successful betting regulatory framework.

"IBIA hopes that these evidence-based results will contribute to the ongoing important global debate about betting and fairness."

In a video released by IBIA, the organization explained how its bid integrity monitoring system works.

The Group uses a monitoring and alerting platform, collecting "detailed information" on rate transactions and using a sophisticated risk management system.

All customer transactions are monitored in real time, and alerts are exchanged with other members when suspicious activity is detected, which are subsequently analyzed by IBIA using its own "risk-based criteria" to determine whether an investigation should proceed.

“Our members are committed to helping fight betting-related corruption and will provide additional information to the relevant authorities to assist in their investigation,” IBIA clarifies.

“Sports authorities and gambling regulators are actively encouraging us and our members to check betting markets for potentially suspicious developments.

“This approach to sharing information has resulted in multiple convictions following investigations by the relevant authorities, and has also prevented our members from being deceived.”

The Optimum study was released following the IBIA Q1 2021 update, which identified tennis, esports and football as the three sectors most affected by integrity-related threats.
