EvenBet Gaming: Why 2021 Will Be a Game Changer for Markets Around the World

“All eyes will be on the US online poker sector this year,” said Victoria Sopko, who spoke about the growing opportunities in the post-PASPA market in the second edition of EvenBet Gaming's online poker industry survey.

However, despite the impressive growth from the government, industry stakeholders should also keep a close eye on the opening of new markets around the world.

During the review, Sopko provided a detailed overview of some of the key figures, regulatory announcements and marketing trends over the past few months, covering the growth of Italy's online sector, regulation in Tanzania and the poker platform provider's success at SAGSE. Awards.

She told TV viewers: “The Italian online gaming market hit a record high in December 2020, reaching €359 million in GGR (up €100 million from previous months), with online sports betting generating more than half of total revenue. . Compared to the previous month, the increase was 59.5%.

"Online poker's market share is quite modest at €12.2 million, but the market leader, PokerStars, has generated more revenue than any other operator and accounts for 46% of sales."

Looking at the UK, the lockdown meant 'Christmas isn't for everyone' but online operators cheered as online gambling gross revenue rose by 30.5% to £613.6m.

While much of the growth has been attributed to the online sports betting sector, marketing expert EvenBet Gaming highlighted that online poker also rose in the month to £9.4m - up 2.8% from November.

By moving into the African market, Sopko has shed light on Tanzania's gaming space, which has recently taken a leap forward with its online gambling legislation.

She continued, “Tanzania has moved forward with its online gambling legislation. The process initially began in 2019, and in February, the government finally agreed to introduce the 10% GGR virtual gambling tax. At the moment, the licensed gambling activity on land is 3.5% of Tanzania's GDP.

“It is expected that after the final figures for 2019 and the adoption of government regulations, these numbers will grow even more. We look forward to a new jurisdiction south of the equator.”
