The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has entered into an Integrity Partnership with the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA).
The agreement includes the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote a regulated betting market framework and related integrity issues.
It will include a wide range of activities, including sharing information and intelligence on relevant sports betting markets, launching research in areas of mutual interest, and cooperation in integrity-based marketing and advertising.
“IBIA plays a critical role in ensuring that the sports betting markets are properly regulated and integrity in sports is at the core of its operations,” said BGC Chairman Brigid Simmonds.
“BGC will fully join this effort and bring its experience and expertise in advancing world class standards in new and emerging sports betting markets,” added Simmonds.
BGC members make up over 97% of the UK sports betting market, including bet365, Entain, Flutter Entertainment and William Hill.
Many BGC members are also members of IBIA, exchanging sports betting data with IBIA's monitoring and alerting platform as a condition of membership in the match-fixing prevention body.
“Both of our associations are active internationally and in many of the same markets, have many of the same members and share the same regulatory goals,” said IBIA CEO Khalid Ali.
“We already cooperate in markets like Brazil and it was a natural transition to a more formal and structured relationship.
“The scope of our joint membership gives us a strong mandate to speak on behalf of a significant portion of the regulated sector, and policy makers welcome this level of targeted industry involvement,” Ali added.
IBIA maintains similar MoU partnerships with merchants including Spain's Jdigital, Swedish trade association BOS, and regulators including the Malta Gaming Authority.
