Spanish regulator DGOJ has issued a slew of new licenses to operators as their original 10-year certificates expired this year after a decade of the country's regulated online gambling market.
Operators awarded the new three-year license include Betfair, 888, Gamesys Group, William Hill, RFranco and Paf.
In an effort to avoid operators residing in a country without a valid license, DGOJ required applicants to submit renewal documents at least four months prior to the expiration date.
Operators with multi-vertical licenses can submit a digital expansion application to DGOJ.
The renewal application must be signed by a legal representative and proof of eligibility must be provided within the 10-year term of the previous license, with all taxes due.
The regulatory body must also be provided with supporting evidence of payment of license fees. These fees include a technical reporting fee of EUR 38,000, a registration fee of EUR 2,500 per license, and separate costs of EUR 10,000 for the successful grant of each license.
Spain's licensed operators generated a total gross gambling revenue of €850M during 2020, up 13.7% annually.
