Wayne Bridge and Roy Jennings returned to Joe Ryan studio The Big Stage, to express their predictions for the first round of the championship Europe 2020 .
Jennings did not predict England's debut against Croatia, saying only that the team "needed to win", adding: "We can't go into this game against Scotland without a win under our belt."
Bridge, however, made a successful prediction, arguing that although the game would be "tough", he foresaw England pulling out a 1–0 victory over the team that denied them a place in the 2018 World Cup final.
He commented: “I went with England to win one by one because they are always close games. England have not always started tournaments so well, but this year I really like us. I think it will be difficult at first, but I really want us to chop it up.
"I have so much faith in this team that I think it will be difficult from the beginning, but I really like that we came out in the second half and scored a goal."
Moving on to arguably the most anticipated game of the week, which Ryan described as one of the "juiciest" games in the first round, and also potentially "good enough to be the final" considering both teams' records in past tournaments.
“It's just a massive game,” Bridge began. “I really like France because when I look at their team they are fantastic and I advised them to go all the way. I've been tinkering around in France all day.
“Germany is good and they always seem to do well in tournaments, but I wish it was France with all my heart, just because of the sad time we had against Germany, so I really hope France really wins. "
Noting that Les Bleus are 7/4 to win in their first game, Jennings added: "I think it's a really good price because I think Germany will struggle in this tournament, I really do."
Ryan added that Germany is in a "transformation stage", prompting Jennings to remark: "I have a lot of time for football history, everything that has happened before teaches us about what is happening at the moment, but the great love that Germany has." getting is due to what they have done before. This lineup is, by their standards, very average.”
