What do they say?

“For me, it all started with my old man playing football and we went to football every weekend, so I respected a lot of the guys,” Crocker explained. “At that time it was not unusual for bookies to give and take money and pools and then sit in a pub and watch the results.

“It was my weekend routine from a young age, but I always remember being fascinated by claw machines and watching people play those things. I've always been attracted to sounds and lights and all that. There were scratch cards in the Sunday papers and magazines and I was right there taking all those things.

“I may have been written on the wall that I might have a gambling problem, but it didn't really get out of hand. When I bet on football with friends, it was absolutely normal because it was the weekend.

“It happened to me – which is probably a common story for many people – when FOBT started to be installed in bookmakers, I no longer went in and out to place sports bets, I started putting money into roulette. and slots. The difference is that when you're sitting alone with books, you're not going to bet on sports anymore."
