Sportradar: Data-Driven Solutions for Anti-Doping in Sport

Doping has become a global problem that has plagued sports in recent years, and the analytics firm Sportradar began using a data-driven approach to combat “more sophisticated” match-fixing practices.

Sportradar uses a number of technological innovations and procedures to conduct anti-doping testing and monitoring with the aim of achieving three goals:

  1. Ensuring high efficiency and cost-effectiveness of monitoring and targeted testing
  2. Investigations are conducted in a comprehensive, timely and impartial manner.
  3. Integrity training is readily available.

The company's "technology-based remote testing system" can be integrated into the testing workflows of sports organizations and integrity associations, providing more flexibility for anti-doping organizations and "making life easier" for participating athletes.

Services include urinalysis, dry blood testing, and breath testing using blockchain technology to ensure a “secure process and data exchange.”

Meanwhile, the company also uses non-contact methods, allowing its customers to conduct anti-doping tests "anywhere, anytime."

“Just like training methods in sports equipment, doping is becoming more and more sophisticated, so testing should follow suit,” the company explained.

“This means, among other things, that by using the latest technology and methods, as a technology leader in the world of sports, we have helped protect the integrity of sport for over two decades, and we want to use the same technology-based approach. in the fight against doping."

Earlier this year, Sportradar promised to offer its Universal fraud detection system (UFDS) to sports federations and leagues to "continue investing in the future of sport".

Since its first launch in 2005, the system has been used by 70 different sports organizations around the world, covering more than 60 sports and tracking 10,000 leagues and competitions annually, amounting to "over half a million sporting events in total".
