Operator Ladbrokes and Coral Entain announced a number of new green measures and commitments as part of its #MakeTodayMatter campaign.
Carbon neutrality has been a key focus of Entain for some time since a sustainability charter was launched in December 2020, shortly after the completion of the rebrand of GVC Holdings, outlining key environmental initiatives.
Regarding the launch of a new initiative, Jette Nygaard-Andersen , CEO of Entain, commented, “I am delighted to announce that today we are launching our #MakeTodayMatter campaign. As you know, we have set ourselves the ambitious goal of reducing carbon emissions to zero by 2035.
“Right now, some of us are in our offices, stores or stadiums, some work from home, but everywhere we start with simple actions and better solutions.”
Virginia McDowell , Non-Executive Director and Chair of the SG Committee, added: “Protecting the environment is part of our broader commitment to ESG. We are the only betting and gaming company to set a goal by 2035 and the first company to achieve international environmental standards. We are absolutely committed to it.”
The operator has been able to halve carbon emissions per employee since 2017, but Colin Gray, environmental manager, believes Entain still has a long way to go to meet its environmental goals.
Gray detailed how the operator will continue to work with the Carbon Trust using science-based targets consistent with the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change.
Meanwhile, Group HSSE director Steve Howells said the group could cut both its emissions and costs and would "bring a whole group of people together" to do so.
Adrian Bauer , Group Purchasing Director, said: “There is a huge opportunity in our supply chain to reduce our carbon footprint and so who and what we buy and how we collaborate will be a key focus for us going forward. . »
At the end of the video presentation, Joem Teddoro , Manilla HSE Manager, said: “Manilla and the Philippines as a whole are at the forefront of the fight against climate change, as is our office in Hyderabad, India.
"It may be overwhelming, but our #MakeTodayMatter campaign is something we can leave behind and be proud to play our part."
