Charitable Organization for Responsible Gambling GambleAware has unveiled its new five-year strategy, which focuses on a "system-wide approach" to reduce and prevent gambling-related harm.
At the beginning of the group's presentation on its new roadmap, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Keith Lampard CBE outlined GambleAware's commitment to using its strategy as "a compass for all organizations, partners and individuals working to prevent the harms of gambling."
“In order to keep people safe from the harms associated with gambling, it is clear that there is a need for appropriate messages, referrals and ways to get help,” she said.
“This calls for a coherent and coordinated approach across the system, which should include partnerships with the NHS, health agencies, local authorities, and include collaboration with survivors of gambling harm.”
Zoe Osmond , CEO of GambleAware, then discussed the specific details of the strategy, again focusing on "the entire system community response" to the harms of gambling, including awareness raising, early intervention and referrals for treatment."
She also outlined the group's key strategic priorities for the next five years, setting out the following goals:
- Increasing Engagement and Awareness
- Transforming capacity and opportunity through a range of partnerships
- Promoting equity and championing diversity
- Best in class commissioning
Describing the overall mission of GambleAware, Osmond said: “We are an independent charity governed by a board of trustees, many of which work in the healthcare sector.
“Our charitable goals are twofold – promoting education to prevent the harms associated with gambling, especially young people and those who are most vulnerable.
"Secondly, working with people in the UK to keep them away from the harms associated with gambling through the application of this health model."
During the webinar, she also spoke Dr. Jane Rigby , which outlined the GambleAware go-live strategy and its four key goals.
